UIARA BARTIRA – Born, lives and works in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil _1949 / 2023

_ "My process involves sensation, rationalization, and symbolization to achieve the sensible, and therefore, meaning. All the people, experiences, and things I encounter are part of this creative process, which leads me to the construction and resignification of the image."

Bachelor's degree in Painting from the School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná; with an extension in Printmaking from The Art Students League of New York; Lithography from the School of Communication and Arts - USP; Postgraduate degree in Photography and Image Creation Processes from Tuiuti University of Paraná. _Also works in the areas of education, research, and art curation.

The investigations into different artistic languages translate the concepts of a long trajectory that began in the 1980s with intense research on Color, a legacy of learning music and piano in childhood and of a family linked to cinema, drawing, painting, graphics and technology.

In printmaking, a blend of Pollock, Rauschenberg, and Schnabel in a jazzy process; in drawing, a blend of Paul Klee and Matisse through the study of color; in painting, Joseph Albers and the artists of Abstract Expressionism; in Brazil, Oiticica and his Body of Color. The relationship with virtuality in his work is linked to extensive scientific research conducted and realized in a software program—Art and Brain, in an exhibition presented at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum/Curitiba—2018: ART_COSMOLOGICAL DECODING.

Among the individual and collective exhibitions the following stand out: ENGRAVED WORK, at the Engraving Museum of the City of Curitiba-1999, an institution established by the artist in 1989; Camerata Antiqua; Beethoven Symphonies (Color)-Academus Gallery, 1980s; Vieler & Bander Gallery- Düsseldorf; Espaço Cultural do Correios, RJ; Painting for R. Salvatore - Guido Viaro Museum- 1980s; Poetics of Color- painting, at the Alfredo Andersen Museum-2000; ECCE MONDO - and book on Color, Espaço BRDE; CONCILIAR-exhibition and book: drawings and engravings-2013/2014; Museum of Contemporary Art- PR; THE SILENCE AND THE EROTICITY OF ENGRAVING (exhibition and book) - Municipal Museum of Art - MuMA - Curitiba-2021/22; UIARA BARTIRA_The restlessness of FORM - Guido Viaro Museum - 2023.

Participates in important International Print Salons and Biennials, notably the 23rd International Biennial of Ljubljana/Yugoslavia, where the group received the Brazilian Representation Award; XI and XII Engraving Exhibitions in the City of Curitiba, Body Exhibitions - Folds of the Soul; VII Puerto Rico Print Biennial; Salon D'Automne - Grand Palais - Paris; 6th National Salon - Funarte - MAM-RJ; Current Panorama of Brazilian Art - MAM- SP; - Has works in collections in 35 institutions, in Brazil and abroad.
