| BIOGRAFIA

Marcos Bento

Marcos Bento lives and works in Curitiba.

Visual artist, graphic designer, advertiser and cultural producer.

Early in his career, he used controversy to reflect on life, on specific moments, situations, and topics. He won several awards, including the Paraná State Government's Overseas Travel Award, the Brazilian Drawing Exhibition Award, and the Religious Art Salon Award.

His current artistic production draws on childhood memories of flying with his father, Victor, who photographed aerial images. He blends these emotions into abstract images, producing thought-provoking and expressive works.

In a second reading of affective memories, the sea water, when hitting the rocks on the Santa Catarina coast, seeks the strength and vivacity of this impetuous attitude, where it reflects its creative and dynamic personality.

His works are part of the collections of several museums and institutions such as MON - Oscar Niemeyer Museum (Curitiba); MAC - Museum of Contemporary Art (Curitiba);

MAJ - Museum of Art (Joinville); MASC - Museum of Art of Santa Catarina (Florianópolis); German Embassy (Brasília); Juan Miró Foundation (Barcelona).

As a designer, he created, for example, the "Pinhão" (Pine Nut) crosswalk, in partnership with architect Jaime Lerner; the urban space intervention—painting the asphalt—"Tudo pela Cor" (Everything for Color). He won the poster design competitions for the Paraná Salons of 1980 and 1981; the Curitiba logo for the city's 300th anniversary; and the national winner for the logo of the Association of Business Administrators, in partnership with Heloísa Hannemann de Campos and Cassilda.
