Luiz Macedo

Luiz Carlos de Almeida Macedo is a Brazilian painter, born in Itabira,  Minas Gerais native, married with one daughter. He holds degrees in accounting and psychology and a postgraduate degree in human resources management.

Born into a traditional merchant family, he adopted the stage name Luiz Macedo. He began his artistic career as a teenager, influenced by his aunts, who painted in Catholic school classes, and, above all, by Amedeo Lorenzato, an Italian-Brazilian painter whose families maintain close contact due to intermarriage.

Participates in exhibitions in Brazil and mainly in Italy, where  attended a master class at the Florence Academy of Art, which helped him develop his technique and improve his work.

From the paintings and wood sculptures he always made, he inherited the artist's line and technique, having added new techniques and features throughout his career.

His artistic production has taken a different direction in recent years, marked by his memories, the artistic relationships he had with Lorenzato, and the influences and memories of almost his entire life spent in a small town, which leads him to increasingly seek to give a particular form to his affective memory linked to the images, people, and events that surround him.

His paintings simply represent aspects of nature, such as flowers and landscapes, as well as figurative and abstract expressions, almost always using a comb in thick layers of paint, which guarantee unexpected effects and, at the same time, give something special to what he does, almost always using colors full of life and strength.

All of this, then, receives a kind of  a seasoning of restlessness that reproduces in his paintings subtle questions about shapes, shadows and life situations that intrigue the viewer.
