Alves Martins

Alves Martins was born on September 20, 1987, and lives in Recife. He is a self-taught painter, a law graduate, and a lawyer. He demonstrated an interest in art from an early age, creating his first canvases at the age of 12, demonstrating his artistic heritage from his two painter uncles, his paternal grandfather's brothers, who were born in Portugal. Furthermore, his parents' encouragement to paint was a constant in Alves Martins' life, as were the paintings on the walls of the apartment where he lived with his parents as a child, mostly created by his great-uncle, Armando Alves Martins. 

His ability to create and combine colors was the first striking characteristic of his paintings when he was young. This gave rise to his highly original and irreverent style, the wild abstract, which is marked not only by the use of many colors but also by the vivacity, explicit energy, and emotions conveyed on the canvas through his strong and original artistic expression, with non-symmetrical and disconnected forms. He defines it as a rudimentary, simplistic, random, instinctive "art," and the result of this mixture of rationality and contrast with "access" to his unconscious. Thus, he constructs a unique, authorial, original abstract art, unique to Alves Martins. 

The "Wild Abstract" conveys emotions and positive feelings, positive energy to the observer of his art. As he often says, it is not a mere "decorative" canvas painting on the wall, but rather a Wild Abstract, the main artistic expression he develops, and which transforms a "simple" environment into an "extraordinary" one, with personality, authenticity, sophistication, originality, and singularity.
